Dee Adekugbe

Community Leader

Dee Adekugbe is the Founder and Executive Director of Ruth’s House, a safe haven for families experiencing domestic violence in the African community in Calgary. Fondly known in the community as “Mama Dee,” Dee is an ordained minister, an international speaker and author. In Calgary, she worked in the local church, and in 2005 founded “All Woman Ministry,” that educates and equips women with self-confidence and self-awareness. In February 2022, Dee transitioned into her current role as the Executive Director of Ruth’s House, the first ethnocultural organization that addresses domestic violence in the African community.

Dee is heavily committed and invested in her community through her various collaborations, partnerships, and engagements. She sits on various boards and supports many community initiatives that help build and foster stronger communities and families. By being a member of the Community Guidance Group, she hopes to be engaged in developing and providing culturally centred services, programs, and education to the Black Communities.
