Sonya Boyce

Sonya Boyce is a member of the project’s community guidance group. She met Dr. Duhaney in her role as the Director of the project entitled - Truth and Transformation: Advancing Gender Equity for Black Women, Girls and Gender Diverse People in Canada at WomenatthecentrE. It is a national community-based research project that addresses the intersections of gender-based violence and anti-Black racism. Dr. Duhaney sits on their National Advisory Council representing the Province of Alberta. Sonya looks forward to contributing to the project through creating opportunities for Black women to speak their truths and amplify the voices of Black survivors of gender-based violence.

She is currently involved in the recruitment of research participants, and building connections among diverse Black people. In her spare time, Sonya loves knitting and brewing kombucha.
