Toronto Rape Crisis Centre (TRCC)

Initially run entirely by volunteers, the Toronto Rape Crisis Centre (TRCC) was established in 1974. Now, with its successful growth and fundraising efforts, TRCC continues to provide supportive services to sexual assault survivors all across Toronto. TRCC offers 24-hour crisis support through phone or web/text chat, individual peer and group counselling, and accompaniment for clients attending court and/or medical appointments. The Older Black Women's Group for mothers and elder women of African Ancestry/Black Caribbean or Continental descent is the longest running support group offered by TRCC. This group initiates a safe healing space for survivors of sexual assault, childhood sexual assault and gender-based violence where women can share their experiences and empower each other.
