Dr. Akin Taiwo

Co-investigator

Dr. Akin Taiwo is an Associate Professor of social work at King’s University College at Western University, London, Ontario. His area of research is on issues of race, privilege, power, oppression, and social work practice with diverse populations. As a co-investigator, he will collaborate on the planning, implementation, and knowledge dissemination of this project. He will leverage his knowledge and experience in qualitative research methods to ensure that this project is successful. 

As an educator and knowledge user, he will also connect and collaborate with community organization partners and participants in the Greater Toronto Area where the program will be piloted before spreading to other parts of Ontario. Dr. Taiwo has a quest for social justice and would like to address the multidimensionality of violence as well as provide preventative psychoeducation and support for Black men, women, and families in different communities.
