Research Associate
Kate Beamer is a research associate who works on all the projects under Dr. Duhaney’s research portfolio. Kate is also a PhD candidate in the Werklund School of Education at the University of Calgary. Her research centres on undisclosed childhood trauma in relation to silence, voice, posttraumatic stress, and curricular interventions. Her drive for social justice and inclusive education propels her research. She hopes that her knowledge of all forms of trauma can create positive impacts when looking at the multitude of trauma as experienced by racialized populations. She also hopes to deepen her knowledge on critical race theory both as a methodology and as a theory. In her spare time, Kate enjoys gardening, baking, dancing, rescuing animals, and spending time with her two sons.
